The SBA has published its response to the recent Impact Assessment Webinars conducted by Eunomia for the European Commission.
In June 2021, Eunomia held a number of Webinar’s to share their findings on the project they are conducting for the European Commission in support of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD). The Director General of the SBA, in his role as MedTech Europe (MTE), National Associations member, was able to attend three of the six webinars. These being on the following topics:
- Recyclable Packaging
- Recycled Content
- Reusable Packaging
As well as contributing to the official response document for MTE, which was looking at all types of Medical Technology packaging, it was decided to also contribute to the project with an SBA feedback document. This document would focus specifically on the regulatory and patient safety aspects which the SBA members have to take into account when providing quality Sterile Barrier packaging to the Medical Devices Industry. This feedback document attempts to present logical and appropriate arguments with regard to the proposals presented by Eunomia on Recyclable Packaging and Recycled Content.
