Representing the SBS industry

Our members supply some 80% of the market demand for sterile barrier systems (SBS) in Europe, and along with significant sales and manufacturing facilities in the rest of the world, they have a strong presence in the global market.

Our industry plays a crucial role in supporting the healthcare sector, ensuring the safety and sterility of medical devices and pharmaceutical products.  It drives innovation and creates skilled, high-value jobs, and it contributes to a significant portion of the export market in medical devices and packaging. Above all, it helps to protect patients from the risks of contaminated healthcare products.

What we do

The SBA represents its members in promoting the SBS sector of the healthcare industry. We provide a positive environment to drive innovation in the technology associated with the production of sterile barrier systems, to help set the highest standards in product and manufacturing excellence, and to promote patient safety through the correct use of medical packaging solutions.

Our mission is to be the recognized expert association in the healthcare industry, promoting best practice and providing education in the use of sterile barrier systems to enhance patient safety.

Who we are

The members of the SBA are manufacturers of SBS products and services. Our members account for over 80% of the European sterile barrier industry and their products are sold all over the world. Our members meet twice a year at SBA conferences to discuss the latest in the SBA and in the SBS industry.
